Qwello has reached a significant milestone with the commissioning of its largest installation featuring the new CP22 charger.
Located in Bayonne, in the southwest of France, the site includes 15 CP22 double chargers, delivering a total of 30 charging points, and is now fully operational.
The charging station is situated at the Ametzondo Shopping Mall, a key retail and lifestyle hub in the region.
Its strategic location offers electric vehicle (EV) drivers the convenience of charging their cars while attending to daily activities—transforming dwell time into charge time.
This installation is the result of over a year of focused collaboration, meticulous planning, and forward-thinking implementation.
From the custom placement of poles tailored to the unique structure of the parking facility, to the introduction of Qwello’s refreshed branding, each element was carefully designed to align with both user needs and long-term infrastructure goals.
From Pilot to Full-Scale Deployment
The project began as a pilot with only three charging points.
Following strong usage rates and growing local demand, Qwello expanded the station significantly, reflecting the company’s responsiveness to real-world mobility trends.
This achievement was made possible through Qwello’s continued partnership with Charge Expert, a leading provider of EV charger installation and maintenance services in France.
Charge Expert’s local knowledge and technical expertise were instrumental in ensuring a smooth and efficient deployment, adapted to the site’s specific constraints.
Enhancing Regional Mobility Infrastructure
The Bayonne station stands as more than just a technical installation—it represents a strategic enhancement to the region’s sustainable mobility infrastructure.
In line with France’s LOM (Loi d’Orientation des Mobilités) legislation, the site contributes to the broader goal of expanding accessible slow charging networks.
It complements existing fast-charging solutions, offering drivers more flexibility and choice in how and where they charge their vehicles.
Fully operational since the end of May 2025, the station is designed to serve the community for the next 20 years or more. This long-term outlook underscores Qwello’s dedication to delivering durable, intelligent, and sustainable charging infrastructure across Europe.
