Strategic partnership

Groen-Eco teams up with Qwello Group to expand B2B and destination charging in the Netherlands.

Qwello Benelux B.V. has taken a majority stake in Groen-Eco B.V., marking the start of a strategic partnership between the two companies. The agreement was completed on 21 September 2026.

The Rotterdam-based company operates 720 chargers with more than 1,400 charging sockets at over 230 sites in the Netherlands. Its business is built on long-term site contracts with landlords and companies, typically with a term of 10 years.

Groen-Eco will continue to operate under the same leadership and operation team, ensuring long term continuity for its customers and partners.

Combining strengths

The partnership is expected to unlock commercial and operational synergies. Groen-Eco will be able to draw on Qwello’s proprietary hardware and full-stack software solution, while Qwello strengthens its position in the B2B and semi-public destination charging segments in the Netherlands.

Dr. Henrik Thiele, Managing Director of Qwello Group: “Groen-Eco brings a strong customer base and a solid portfolio of long-term site contracts. Together, we see strong potential to grow the business further.”

Setting up for growth

Martien de Groene, founder of Groen-Eco: “We have built Groen-Eco on long-term relationships with our customers. With Qwello, we have found a partner that brings the technology and operational strength to take the company to its next stage of growth.”

Jeroen Franken, Managing Director of Qwello Benelux B.V. adds: “Partnering with Groen-Eco strengthens our growing B2B business and brings together two organizations that complement each other extremely well. Qwello’s experience, technology and operational capabilities can help Groen-Eco realize its full potential. What stands out to me in particular is how closely our values, principles and vision are aligned.”
